I spy the 50's & 60's pants!!!
The pedal pusher came out in the 50's & grew popular throughought
the 60s. They are a calf length trouser.
They are
cousins to the
"Capri pants" but these
ones are known to be more tight on the skin.
The name
"Pedal pusher"
originated from the
idea that the pants were
worn by cyclists; regular pants
would get caught in the
chain or pedal
whereas these
wouldn't.
Known to be a 100% cotton pant made out
of a twill like fabric.
First created in the
1800's for the men in
the military; it was
simple, comfortbale
and cheap.
It was revolution-
ized in the late 50's. Women would appro-
priate this style of
pant as a loose and
light pair of trouser
like bottom.
Trousers as well
as bermuda style pants are also con-
sidered as a kind of
chino-cloth pant
because of their
simplicity in style.
The name "Chino"
is actually the spanish
name for chinese. Because the chinese created the outfits for the spanish military,
they would name them chino-clothes
